Faith in Learning - every student known by name

Welcome to Becket Keys Sixth Form

At Becket Keys, we understand how daunting the future might seem and how important it is to ensure that you are equipped with the confidence and qualifications to make the most of your opportunities. The Sixth Form at Becket Keys provides you with the support you need to succeed, the expert tuition for you to flourish in your courses and opportunities to make the most of your unique, God-given talents.

Becket Keys Sixth Form is the best place for you to become the adult you want to be. Here, you will have the chance to benefit from our outstanding provision. You will become part of our distinctive Church of England School. You will benefit from our independent school feel - small classes, smart uniform, high aspirations. This is no ordinary school! As a Sixth Former here, you will receive expert advice and support from our sponsor, The Russell Education Trust. And you will be known, independently, by name by our superb team of teachers who will work with the Sixth Form pastoral team to ensure that everything is suited to you as an individual. In return, we will expect you to be our leaders and our role models for younger students. You will also need to work hard, both in and, importantly, outside of lessons.

We will help you to select your courses wisely. Do not just pick the subjects your friends are opting for, think about the courses or careers you want to pursue next. Would these subjects be suitable? Do you enjoy them? Are you likely to succeed in them? We are here to help you make the right choices and to support you through Year 12 and Year 13.

We will have high expectations of all students entering the Sixth Form. We expect you to use your study lessons profitably, to meet deadlines and to contribute to your learning by challenging ideas, being respectful of the views of others, reading relevant material to inform your opinions and persevering when the work is difficult. We also hope that you will join in school life enthusiastically, making the most of the extra-curricular activities and the exciting trips on offer.

I look forward to welcoming you into the Sixth Form in September and wish you every success in your GCSE exams in June.

Introducing our Head of Sixth Form

I look forward to welcoming you our vibrant new Sixth Form. With a fresh, purpose built area for you to study, relax and eat, Becket Keys is the perfect choice when considering where to continue your education.

I am delighted to be here as the first Head of Sixth Form at this school, having previously been Head of English at Becket Keys for two years as everyone worked together to ensure that our first ever GCSE results were as excellent as they were. I have taught A Levels for twelve years and have extensive experience of Sixth Form life. My passion is empowering students to develop individually as they discover more about the world around them, take risks and learn from their mistakes. This individuality is never more evident than when working with students and advising them on university courses, apprenticeships and careers, including assisting them with their UCAS statements and interview techniques. In the classroom, I am a firm believer in student-led, discussion-based teaching at A Level so that students develop the research, analytical and critical thinking skills that they need at university and beyond.

Away from education, I am a keen sportsman and, when not playing, I will watch anything that involves a ball of some description, either from the stands or the sofa. I also enjoy drama at the theatre, wandering around art galleries and attending concerts. A proud son of Suffolk, I love the great outdoors and I am a keen hiker, camper and traveller, so I will always be asking you for your tips of where to go to further my cultural experiences.

I am always here to offer you any advice that you need and to answer any questions that you have, whether this be as you apply to the Sixth Form or when you have started here. Please do not think twice about getting in contact or coming to see me or anyone else on the Sixth Form pastoral team: we are here to help you be as successful as you can be.
